Amazing GOP hypocrisy
Wow.
The US Senate has a bill called
S.J. Res 43, the Marriage Protection Amendment, that would amend the Constitution to bar same-sex marriage. First, there's the sheer chutzpah of the Republicans pushing a Constitutional amendment on a matter that should either be a matter of individual rights or states rights. (The Republicans are always the ones calling for matters to be left to the states, and oddly enough, they used to say that gay marriage was a states right issue. Of course, once some states started allowing gay marriage, they changed their tune.)
Second, and the really special hypocrisy, is that this bill had 8 co-sponsors as of yesterday. Two of those co-sponsors? Louisiana Senator David "cheats on wife with hookers and calls hookers during House roll call votes" Vitter, and Idaho Senator Larry "Wide Stance", "I resign, I'm resigning later, I changed my mind and I'm not resigning" Craig.
Special.
